Everything starts with an image!
With these words I sign my book the quest. Because that's how it started when reading that first page of the novel Night train to Lisbon. The rest is history ..... Well for those who think 'Did I missed something', exactly 1 year ago my book the quest - a photographic journey - was published. You can see and read it here on my website.
Everything starts with an image, after which the story unfolds, often as a matter of course. All my life I have been torn by stories from other people, the more personal the more it touch me, beautiful and intense.
The quest has shown me my story in all its facets. And since the publication of my book I have found that I like to tell stories by myself, to tell my story. From someone who likes to read stories from others or listens to them, I am now someone who tells stories. And suddenly I see the connection: that which I have been doing for years with great pleasure (listening to the stories of others) also slumbered in me all the time.
In addition to the fact that the quest has made much more visible, this has also happened: I suddenly see myself in various places in the country - Leeuwarden, Eindhoven, Den Bosch, at home in Terherne and even in France - telling my story, and with ever more fun and convenience. I also particularly like the beautiful encounters during those story nights.
To see my images and story will find their way into the minds and hearts of anyone who holds my book or read or hear my story: It made me extremely proud!
Also in 2020 there will be lectures in my agenda again. So-called living room lectures. In the privacy of a living room I tell my story and show the accompanying images. That is also possible at your home! Do you feel something for that? Please let me know!
Everything starts with an image. As I said, telling stories is what I love to do. And because I am a photographer I do that naturally with images! The quest and dilemmas in spatial planning are two beautiful examples of this.
The story gives meaning to what we are experiencing. Images are thereby necessary.
